June 03, 1877. June 3.- Raoul Dufy (3 June 1877 - 23 March 1953) was a French Fauvist painter. He developed a colorful, decorative style that became fashionable for designs of ceramics and textiles, as well as decorative schemes for public buildings. He is noted for scenes of open-air social events. He was also a draftsman, printmaker, book illustrator, Scenic designer, a designer of furniture, and a planner of public spaces. While not the type of art I usually enjoy, I like these works by Dufy. I had never heard of him before. I love his use of color, to me, always a good thing that attracts me to a piece of art. My favorite is Jeanne with Flowers, although I like them all.
